About us:

The Coptic Orthodox Youth Channel (COYC) is the first media organization dedicated to the youth of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Canada.
Today COYC has grown to have a successful production center in Canada. Through the hard work and dedication of many volunteers around Canada CYC has been able to successfully reach millions of family’s worldwide. COYC spreads the love of Jesus Christ through broadcasting its productions through our beloved channel CYC (Christian youth Channel), which opens its arms to our productions and cooperates with us, helping us to grow more and more in Christ’s name.

Our Mission at CYC is…

The mission of the COYC is to help the youth of the Coptic community in Canada to become active members through the production of programs.
COYC aims to spread the love of Jesus Christ and His teachings amongst Christian and non-Christian youth and children globally, which is a true reflection of the beauty of Canada and the kindness of its people. In the meantime one of the main objectives of COYC is to help Canadians and other people all over the world to learn more about the Coptic Church and its history aging back to the time of the pharos. 

Through the grace of God we aim to create awareness of the Coptic Church among non-Egyptians, and to gain acceptance by other members in society by helping them better understand the Coptic Church’s faith, practices and history. This is essential as the Coptic Community has almost a quarter of a million believers in Canada.

Objectives and Goals:

The purpose of this Organization is to:

- Educate the youth about the history, culture, doctrine and traditions of the Coptic Orthodox Church

- Educate the youth about the history of the Coptic Church in Canada

- Provide Canadian youth with general knowledge pertaining to both social and academic matters

- Provide the youth with the opportunity to connect with other fellow youth members in both Canada and worldwide, allowing them to see what their fellow peers may be going through

-COYC aims to serve Coptic and non-Coptic youth in all the lands of immigration by providing them with valuable programs that can help enrich their lives with the word of God

-COYC also has a missionary channel for those who speak English and want to learn about Christ in countries such as Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, China and many more.

-COYC teaches the youth about the importance of volunteering and provides the youth with an opportunity to contribute in various ways.

What is happening in Canada?

- Representatives from COYC are visiting the Coptic churches in Canada in order to promote the channel to our fellow youth. Through these visitations, the goal is to elaborate on the programs aired on the channel, in hopes of encouraging each individual to participate at any level, whether it is behind the scenes or on set. The aim is to send a Christian message to other youth in Canada and also in other parts of the world.

- Through COYC, youth will be given the opportunity to produce programs that may incorporate songs, hymns, the Coptic language, sports, competitions, talk shows, youth counseling and various miscellaneous shows. These programs will provide an educational service, as well as a forum to share common youth views and opinions.

- CYC is a channel for the youth, created by youth; the content is relevant to issues faced in today’s Canadian society. Allowing youth to grow spiritually, and pass along the faith and the many traditions of the Coptic Church to the up and coming generations.

-All COYC productions are targeted at English speaking youth and children and are very informative and are suitable for all ages and cultures, which supports Canada’s multiculturalism and promotes cross culture acceptance and support.

- Through COYC, the youth are given an innovative opportunity to maximize their talents with the use of professional equipment, along with expanding their knowledge about pre and post-productions. Through the power of the media CYC aims to empower the community and enlighten it with more information and knowledge.

- Our well equipped studio is conveniently located at 825 Denison Street, unit 26 in Markham, Ontario making it accessible to all youth in the community especially those participating in the productions and programming of the channel.
